Music Theory for Singers

Always wanted to learn more about the “how to’s” and “why’s” of vocal music and to apply it to your singing? Join other like-minded folk for Music Theory for Singers with experienced music instructor Cary Fridley. Meeting on September 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, this class is for singers who know how to sing but want to learn more about music theory and traditional music notation. Participants will work together on learning to hear and sing different intervals like thirds, fourths, and fifths, and how to recognize them in a piece of sheet music. Topics covered include basic music theory, sight-singing melodies, understanding choral music scores, and ear training techniques. You’ll come away from these experiential workshops with a deeper understanding, ability and appreciation for vocal music!
