SUMMARY:The Old Timey Fall Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Old Timey Fall Festival Burnsville's beautiful Town Square\, is just that\, a good old fashioned local Festival. The Yancey History Association will host this event and invites everyone near and far to come out and be a part of this wonderful fun-filled day. The theme of the festival is always “Old Timey”. This annual event is used to invite heritage-crafters to come out and demonstrate the old timey methods of producing their crafts so that the younger generations can see how their ancestors made these wonderful items. In the past there have been basket-makers\, yarn spinners\, corn grinders\, beekeepers\, candle makers\, quilters\, rug makers and many others demonstrating how they produce their heritage-craft. This year there'll be all of these vendors and more demonstrating and selling their wares. \n2020 Entertainment Schedule TBA.

SUMMARY:3b Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 3b Music Festival is hosted at Fiddler's Grove\, the site of the oldest continuous-run bluegrass music festival in the country. Now in its 6th year\, 3b shares the spirit of the Fiddler's Grove Festival: showcasing American folk music in a family environment while supporting education. Originally dubbed “3b: Bluegrass\, Blues\, and Barbecue\,” the festival has evolved to include a variety of American music. All proceeds from the festival support American Renaissance School\, a K-8 arts-centered public charter school. \nThe main stage at Fiddler's Grove is nestled between the trees at the bottom of a gentle slope. You'll want to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to settle in and enjoy the day in this beautiful outdoor location. This venue is a family-friendly environment; alcohol\, drugs\, and pets are strictly prohibited. To the left of the main stage\, one can find a variety of food vendors. The hallmark cuisine of 3b is traditional North Carolina Barbecue; however\, one can also find staples such as sweet tea\, cole slaw\, baked beans\, lemonade\, and other treats. Another hallmark of the 3b Music Festival is the children's area. Our staff volunteers have planned many exciting activities for the young ones! Past activities have included face painting\, craft making\, a petting zoo\, and more! Additionally\, one can find craft vendor booths set up between the children's area and the main stage. You can also find various 3b souvenirs. Remember: all vendors and souvenir sales help support 3b and American Renaissance School. \n2017 Schedule: \n\n11:45 am – ARS Chorus\n12:00 pm – Misty River Band \n12:30 pm -The Rob McHale Band\n1:00 pm -3rd Creek Bluegrass \n1:45 pm -Karla Kincaid \n2:30 pm -Kevin Reid Band\n3:15 pm -Danny Wicker \n4:00 pm -Sons of the South \n4:45 pm -Lou Reid and Carolina \n5:45 pm -The Coteries

SUMMARY:VanHoy Farms Revival Music Series
DESCRIPTION:Join the Infamous Stringdusters for an incredible weekend of music along with Special Guests Sierra Hull and Justin Moses and The Travelin’ McCourys.  \nHosted at VanHoy Farms\, the home of the historic Old Time Fiddler's Convention the music series is presented with socially distant protocols will be in place to ensure everyone stays safe and has an incredible time. Some of these precautions including enforcing masks\, socially distanced concert pods\, contactless entry\, socially distant parking\, numerous hand washing stations as well as a mobile menu & cashless payments for ordering touch-free/line-free concessions and merchandise.  \nShowtimes and Bands: \nApril 23 – The Infamous Stringdusters\, Sierra Hull + Justin Moses\, 5:00 pm \n\nFormed in 2005\, the Nashville-based acoustic group the Infamous Stringdusters balance a fluency in old-timey bluegrass and indie jamgrass sensibilities\, with an emphasis on strong instrumental work plus a sound that's both organic and groove friendly. The band earned a stellar reputation among bluegrass fans right out of the box\, earning three International Bluegrass Music Association awards after the release of their 2007 debut album\, Fork in the Road\, and they began exploring a more ambitious musical approach with 2010's Things That Fly. The Stringdusters' genre-spanning approach got a workout on 2016's Ladies & Gentlemen\, in which they collaborated with 11 different female guest musicians\, and they earned one of the music business' highest honors for 2017's Laws of Gravity.\nSierra Hull has been recognized from age 11 as a virtuoso mandolin-player\, astonishing audiences and fellow-musicians alike. Now a seasoned touring musician nearing her mid-20s\, Hull has delivered her most inspired\, accomplished\, and mature recorded work to date; no small feat. Weighted Mind is a landmark achievement\, not just in Sierra Hull's career\, but in the world of folk-pop\, bluegrass\, and acoustic music overall. With instrumentation comprised largely of mandolin\, bass\, and vocals\, this is genre-transcending music at its best\, with production by Béla Fleck and special harmony vocal guests Alison Krauss\, Abigail Washburn\, and Rhiannon Giddens adding to the luster. Hull speaks eloquently\, in her challenging and sensitive originals\, her heartfelt vocals\, and once again breaks new ground on the mandolin. Béla Fleck special guests on banjo on two tracks and duo partner\, Ethan Jodziewicz\, not only anchors the record on bass\, but introduces us to a major new instrumental voice.\n\nApril 24 – Travelin' McCourys\, 5:00 pm \n\nFrom a source deep\, abundant\, and pure the river flows.  It’s there on the map\, marking place and time. Yet\, the river changes as it remains a constant\, carving away at the edges\, making new pathways\, gaining strength as it progresses forward.  The Travelin’ McCourys are that river. The McCoury brothers- Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo) – were born into the bluegrass tradition.  Talk about a source abundant and pure: their father\, Del\, is among the most influential and successful musicians in the history of the genre.  Years on the road with Dad in the Del McCoury Band honed their knife-edge chops\, and encouraged the duo to imagine how traditional bluegrass could cut innovative pathways into 21st century music.
