DESCRIPTION:Ginger’s Revenge Craft Brewery & Tasting Room and Warren Wilson College are teaming up to launch “Sit a Spell\,” a new weekly traditional music jam that will raise funds for the Warren Wilson Music Scholarship Fund while bringing together Asheville’s vibrant roots music community. \nThe open jam sessions will take place Fridays from 6–8 p.m.\, beginning April 3\, at Ginger’s Revenge’s Tasting Room at 829 Riverside Drive\, Suite 100. Musicians of all levels are welcome to bring instruments and join the circle\, while community members are invited to come listen and enjoy an evening of traditional music. Additional donations to the fund will also be welcomed through a QR code available at the events. \n“Community music jams are about connection and creativity\,” said Tammy Clayton\, Director of Retail Operations at Ginger’s Revenge. “We’re excited to host these gatherings and help support the next generation of musicians coming out of Warren Wilson.” \nFor more information\, please contact Dr. Jason DeCristofaro at jdecristofaro@warren-wilson.edu or (828)545-3916 \n“Sit a Spell” hosts: \n\nClarke Williams\nEmolyn Liden\nKorey Brodsky

SUMMARY:Jam Sessions at the Barber Shop
DESCRIPTION:  \nOne of the more quaint musical venues in the Blue Ridge region is the tiny Drexel Barber Shop in the little town of Drexel. The shop features a very informal jam session. Thursday\, Friday\, and Saturday\, around 11:00 am‚ the guys at the barber shop generally put aside their scissors‚ shears‚ and combs and grab their instruments for a few hours of picking. Thursday and Friday are a mix of gospel and country\, while Saturday is bluegrass all day. This event occurs year-round on most‚ but not all‚ Saturday afternoons. \n  \n\n  \nRound out your visit to the Drexel Barber Shop by exploring these nearby towns and attractions. \nLawrence Anthony‚ the driving force behind the jam‚ passed away in December of 2009. Anthony’s son has set up a nonprofit account to repair and keep the shop open for the sake of the music and as a memorial to Anthony. Donations can be sent to the “Barber Shop Preservation Fund‚” c/o First Citizens Bank‚ Valdese‚ NC; taken to the barbershop; or sent to the Barber Shop Fund‚ 2744 Monarch Dr.‚ Charlotte‚ NC.

SUMMARY:Stecoah Community Jam
DESCRIPTION:Community Jam \nEvery 3rd Tuesday\n5:30 pm to 7:30 pm \nMark your calendars for the 3rd Tuesday of every month to join us for a Schoolhouse Community Jam. Bring your instruments and join our circle! We invite musicians of all levels to come out and join together for an evening of playing together. \nYou can begin gathering / playing anytime after 5:30 pm. 5:30 – 6:00 will be a Slow Jam – great for beginners and novice musicians. You will be able to meet and play along with our JAM Band students. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet if you are new to jamming. The evening is strictly a jam time (no instruction) but is open to all ages and abilities. Our goal is to create a nurturing environment to encourage budding musicians (and those with dusty instruments). The remaining jam time we will take direction from the group as to what and how fast we play. We hope to see you there! \nNOTE: For the time being the monthly potluck is on hold but if the group desires to have the potluck we can resume it in the future.

SUMMARY:Roots in the Garden Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our free\, family-friendly Roots in the Garden concert series celebrating live music and community in the heart of Boone! \nMusic will begin at 5:30 for all of the concerts in the series. \nAll of the concerts will also feature visual artists\, with their work auctioned off at the end of the evenings to benefit the Gardens. \nBeer and wine will be available for purchase. Picnics are welcome\, and we will have food trucks as well. Please note\, no dogs or glass containers in the Gardens. \nAll proceeds will support the Gardens’ mission to promote the benefits of native plants and healthy ecosystems\, and provide a community green space in the heart of the High Country. \nSCHEDULE \n\nMay 28: Adam Church Band Country artist Adam Church grew up around Boone in the Appalachian Mountains and is known for what he calls “country music the Carolina way.” An App State alum and longtime mainstay of the Boone music scene\, Church played in Luke Combs’s first band during their college days and draws inspiration from fellow App State Mountaineer Eric Church. He channels his mountain roots into songs like “Blame It On the Backwoods.” Kyle Horton opens the evening.\nJune 18: MAMA (formerly Mama & The Ruckus) is an Asheville blues and soul band fronted by powerhouse vocalist Melissa McKinney. The group has earned a string of accolades over the past few years\, winning the 2025 MerleFest Band Competition (after McKinney took home the same prize as a solo artist in 2024) and\, most recently\, placing 2nd at the 2026 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.\nJuly 16: Led by singer-songwriter Clint Roberts\, Asheville’s Holler Choir lives at the crossroads of old-time\, Americana\, and bluegrass — combining haunting harmonies\, stirring string compositions\, and heart-wrenching ballads. Their debut full-length album\, Songs Before They Write Themselves\, was recorded at the historic Echo Mountain Studios and produced by Grammy-winner Michael Ashworth of the Steep Canyon Rangers.\nJuly 30: Mt. Airy’s DaShawn Hickman is one of today’s foremost practitioners of Sacred Steel\, a blues-gospel pedal steel tradition rooted in the Pentecostal-Holiness churches of the 1930s. Inducted into the Sacred Steel Hall of Fame in 2023\, Hickman performed in Cirque du Soleil’s Song Blazers in 2024 and was the pedal steel player in Steve Ray Ladson’s band\, which reached the finals of America’s Got Talent in 2025. He performs alongside his wife\, vocalist Wendy Hickman.\nAugust 20: Closing out the season is TANASI\, an award-winning Asheville-based “worldgrass” trio uniting three acclaimed roots artists: Billy Cardine on dobro and slide\, MerleFest-winning songwriter Anya Hinkle on vocals and guitar\, and Mary Lucey (Biscuit Burners\, Uncle Earl) on vocals\, upright bass\, and clawhammer banjo. Recipients of a 2025 National Endowment for the Arts USArtists International Grant\, the trio has performed on stages including Carnegie Hall\, the Kennedy Center\, the Ryman Auditorium\, Bonnaroo\, and MerleFest.\n\nFor more information\, visit danielboonenativegardens.org/music

SUMMARY:Summer Tracks Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:Tryon’s most popular music series—starts its season with  Sweet Megg on June 5 in Rogers Park. On tour with a brand-new album\, Massive Negroni\, Sweet Megg and her band “are a genre bending tour de force\,” says Green Man Review. Performing original songs and putting her own spin on an array of classics\, Megg brings venues alive with the sound of everything from cabaret to jazz to honky-tonk\, from Tom Waits to Edith Piaf\, from the music of the 1920s through present day. Monologging Magazine describes Sweet Megg and her band as “though they were plucked from a smoke-filled Prohibition-era speakeasy rather than formed on the New York City music scene.”  \nAll Summer Tracks shows begin at 7 p.m. More information on each show—including performer’s bios and photos—can be found at www.summertracks.com and https://www.facebook.com/SummerTracksTryonNC. Rogers Park’s covered stage allows for shows rain or shine. Audience members are encouraged to bring rain gear. Any necessary weather updates or show cancellations will be posted on Summer Tracks’ Facebook page. Additionally this season\, a food vendor will not be on site for the first three shows. However\, several local restaurants—who are Summer Tracks supporters—have special box meals for sale. Menus will be posted on the Summer Tracks Facebook page. Alcohol consumption is allowed in the park\, but alcohol is not for sale. \nSummer Track’s 2026 schedule: \nJune 5:             Sweet Megg \nJune 19:           Florencia & The Feeling \nJuly 3:              Firecracker Jazz Band \nJuly 17:            Lillie Syracuse Band \nAugust 7:         The Get Right Band \nAugust 21:       Love Letter – Bonnie Raitt Tribute

SUMMARY:Zuma Coffee Bluegrass Jam Session
DESCRIPTION:Every third Saturday of the month\, Zuma Coffee becomes a crowded bluegrass and old-time music venue. Those who want to get a seat inside should arrive well before the 2 pm start time. The eager-to-play musicians often get going before then\, and the gathering crowd grows large as a result. The jam session is part jam and part stage show. The musicians face the audience\, not each other\, as is the customary arrangement at a mountain jam session\, and most stand to play rather than sit. All musicians who want to join in and play are welcome\, regulars or not\, and a place in the line is made available. The jam session is open to everyone and focuses on old-time and bluegrass music. Listeners are welcome. The coffee is tasty\, and lunch is served… don’t forget the Zuma gold cookies!
