Resting in the foothills of the Appalachians in Western North Carolina, the Yadkin Valley is rich in music and history. The convention site itself is next to the resting place of Laura Foster who was immortalized in the famous song "Tom Dooley", first recorded by G.B. Grayson in 1929. Rustic camping is available on the Jones Farm along the Yadkin River. Camping fees are $10 per night and do not include admission. No electric or water hookups are available to individual campsites. Pets must be leashed. Campers must carry out all trash. Local lodging recommendations available on the Fiddler's Convention website.
Labor Day weekend each year visitors pay homage to the legends and stories of the Yadkin River Valley at the Historic Happy Valley Old-time Fiddlers’ Convention.
