Surry Old Time Fiddlers Convention

The Surry Old Time Fiddlers Convention is an annual event including two days of activities celebrating Surry County's rich heritage of Old Time Music. Located on the campus of Surry Community College in Dobson, NC, the convention offers a host of activities including a Friday night Square Dance, Adult and Youth individual instrument, dance, folk song and band contests, cake walks, 50/50 Cash Drawings, quilt raffle, Luthier displays, Jamming, and dining at The Knight's Grill.

Friday April 6, 2019:

  • 7:00 pm - Mountain Park Old Time Band
  • 8:30 pm - White Top Mountain Band

Saturday April 6, 2019:

  • 10:00 AM-5:00 PM-Registration Open. (Youth registrationends at 2 PM.)
  • 11:00 AM-2:00 PM - Youth Individual and Band Contests. Youth dance and awards following completion of youth categories.
  • 3:00-6:30 PM-Adult individualcon­tests.
  • 7:00-until-Adultband contest. Adult dance and awards following completion of band contest.

Other Saturday activities, between 1:00 and 4:00 pm, include:

  • Fiddle workshop with Richard Bowman
  • Banjo workshop with Paul Brown
  • Guitar workshop with Caroline Beverly

The Surry Old Time Fiddlers Convention is a partnership between Surry Community College, Surry Economic Development and Tourism, Surry County Tourism Development Authority, Dobson Tourism Development Authority, and The Foothills Arts Council.
