Sounds of the Mountains Concert Series
The Blue Ridge Music Center and Yadkin Arts Council are teaming up to present the Sounds of the Mountains winter concert series at the Willingham Theater at the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center.
The January Series includes:
- January 5 - Dom Flemons, 7:30 p.m.:The American songster cofounded the seminal and Grammy Award-winning contemporary African-American string band The Carolina Chocolate Drops, and has been integrally involved with the Music Maker Relief Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving traditional Southern music, including the blues and string traditions of the North Carolina Piedmont.
- January 12 - Kelsey Waldon, 7:30 p.m.: Her unique and authentic style of American roots music blends country, bluegrass, soul, rhythm and blues, and a bit of rock ‘n’ roll. Waldon’s contemporary, yet retro, country sound has been compared to that of country music legends Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn.
- January 19 - Front Country, 7:30 p.m.: Fashioning their own take on roots music and indie folk, Front Country has forged a sound bent on merging the musical past with the future. The result lies somewhere between indie folk and Americana, in a nether region they've come to embrace as their own.
- January 26 - The Fireside Collective, 7:30 p.m.: The group’s high energy brand of bluegrass, newgrass, and progressive folk music garnered it a nomination for the 2018 International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Award for Best Emerging Artist/Band.
