Upcoming Bluegrass / Old Time Bands:
January 18 - Travis Meadows with Laura Leigh Jones, 8:00pm, $18.00 - $22.00. Travis Meadows spent years trying to escape himself. He’s anything but selfish, so he’d find a way to get away––a bottle, a bag, a sermon––and he’d share it with everyone. That was then. Now, Meadows isn’t trying to get anybody lost or high. Instead, he’s trying to get every single one of us to settle in deeply to ourselves––and love what’s there.
January 19 – Tellico, 8:00 pm, $12.00 in advance, $15.00 at the door. With vivid original storytelling, vibrant musicianship and intelligent arrangements, Asheville, NC band Tellico creates an innovative sound that redefines what today’s Southern Appalachian music can be. Instead of modernizing tradition, Tellico takes it deeper, effortlessly weaving meaningful, imaginative songwriting with intelligent arrangements. There is no gimmick here, and yet, there is nothing tired or cliché. Tellico explores the beauty of songcraft through the lens of tradition creating an unmistakable sound.
January 25 - Tatiana Hargreaves & Allison de Groot, 8:00 PM, $12.00 - $18.00. Allison de Groot and Tatiana Hargreaves, two women on the forefront of American traditional music, join forces in this powerful new duo. Their reverence for the people and music that has come before them provides a platform on which they build their own musical vocabulary. With banjo, fiddle, and voice, Allison (Molsky’s Mountain Drifters) and Tatiana (Laurie Lewis) seek out unusual repertoire that catches their ear and inspires them to explore the boundaries of the tune.
February 9 - The Martha Bassett Show - Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas, 8:00 pm, $20.00 - $35.00. The Martha Bassett Show happens live at the historic Reeves Theater in Elkin, NC and features national artists, fresh local faces and the music of Martha Bassett. It's good music for good people! On February 9, Martha welcomes Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas. The musical partnership between consummate performer Alasdair Fraser, "the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling", and brilliant Californian cellist Natalie Haas spans the full spectrum between intimate chamber music and ecstatic dance energy. Over the last 18 years of creating a buzz at festivals and concert halls across the world, they have truly set the standard for fiddle and cello in traditional music.
March 2 - The Martha Bassett Show - Minton Sparks, 8:00 pm, $20.00 - $35.00. The Martha Bassett Show happens live at the historic Reeves Theater in Elkin, NC and features national artists, fresh local faces and the music of Martha Bassett. On March 2, Martha welcomes Minton Sparks. Sparks' spoken word/honky-tonk hybrid performances elicit whoops, hollers, and general hell-raising from beer-swilling good ole boys and latte-sipping intellectuals alike; and though she’s been dubbed everything from the lovechild of Flannery O’Connor and Hank Williams to a backwoods Lucinda Williams, no one knows exactly what or who Minton Sparks really is.
April 16 - The Martha Bassett Show - Heather Maloney, 8:00 pm, $20.00 - $35.00. The Martha Bassett Show happens live at the historic Reeves Theater in Elkin, NC and features national artists, fresh local faces and the music of Martha Bassett. On April 6, Martha welcomes Massachusetts writer and song-singer Heather Maloney. The daughter of a psychotherapist and a carpenter, Heather's songwriting is equal parts introspective and relatable. Maloney has toured nationally as a headliner as well as in support of acts like Lake Street Dive, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Gary Clark Jr., Colin Hay, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and many more.
$5.00 to $25.00, pending artist and advance purchase.
