Come explore the rich music heritage of old-time music the week before the 47th Annual Mount Airy Bluegrass and Old-Time Fiddlers Convention. Classes will be held for instruments, vocal harmony and old-time dance.
Instructors include: Richard Bowman, Paul Brown & Terri McMurray, John Herman, Carl Jones & Erynn Marshall, Meredith McIntosh, Chester McMillan, Nancy & Bill Sluys, Joe Newberry, and others to be anounced. The event is coordinated by Marsha Todd and Laura Turner.
The classes will be held in venues at Veterans Park, weather permitting. The Historic Earle Theatre and the Andy Griffith Playhouse will be back up venues. Sign up for classes at the time of registration. Registrants are free to change classes until class size limits are met. Classes include fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass, mandolin, flat foot dance/square dance calling, and harmony singing. There will be clinics for old-time band, presentations by old-time music masters, jams, dances, and other sessions. Registrants are free to change classes until class size limit is met. The schedule for this retreat is being refined and will be announced soon.
Tuition includes classes, meals (lunch and dinner), t-shirt, and a general admission ticket for both Friday and Saturday at the Fiddlers Convention. Payment in full is confirmation of your place. $100.00 Nonrefundable. The balance of the tuition is refundable if requested by April 30, 2018.
